Great Aussie Bush Camp!

For three days we went to the Great Aussie Bush Camp. Not everyone went to the Great Aussie Bush Camp, but most people did. We did activities like Archery, Dual flying fox, canoeing and my favourite, the Giant Swing.. When I did the giant swing the staff were talking about going out of your comfort zone. When we were doing canoeing we went to the creek. I enjoyed the great Aussie bush camp. Nathanael.

Non-Campers

The Non-Campers did lots of things like art, party planning, finding outdoor games, rotations and art. In the rotations we did reading, Lego building, origami, weaving and board games. The Non-Campers had a lot of fun.

NAIDOC
Celebrations

   Window Art

Wontakalowa! That's 'hello' in the Awabakal language. We have been learning about and celebrating the culture of our First Nations People.
Through stories and art we have learned about Aboriginal symbols, including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, and we created our own symbol compositions. Our artworks welcome visitors into our 'ngurra', our camp or special place, and they tell the story of each class member's own ngurra.
During NAIDOC day, we learned to weave bracelets as Aboriginal children would.

Peer Support

In the middle of Term 2 the whole school started
peer support. Every Wednesday afternoon the school
goes to off to peer support. In peer support we are in groups
with people from kindergarten up to year six. There are three groups in each classroom. In our peer support groups we
work together on our worksheets, then after that we get a
bit of  free time to play a game together.
Peer support goes for about 45 minutes. In peer support we have a lot of fun and get to know different people.

Police Talk

Last Thursday on the 5th of August, someone special came to our school called Officer Daren Fleming. He came and talked to the school about safety on social media. You have to be 13+ or 16+.

He can get to know peoples' details. For example,on Facebook if you search up peoples' details it will say where they live and you can know their number plate and  know who they are!

Daren also showed us his weapons such as O.C spray, baton and he had a gun but he was not allowed to show us it.

ANZAC Display

In Term 1, Mr Jefferies brought in a massive ANZAC display to share with our school. We learned that ANZAC stands for: Australian New Zealand Army Corps. We saw old money, wartime phones, toilet paper, bayonets, a telescope, war diaries and letters, medals and uniforms. Mr Jefferies talked to us about the experiences of the ANZAC troops in WW1 and WW2.

We are thankful to Mr Jefferies for bring his display to share with us and we look forward to learning more next year.
